I received a personal “toio” briefing directly from Mr. Tanaka, the developer of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s “toio” (*^^*)
This product was born out of SAP, Sony’s internal startup support program, which I was previously involved with as a judge.
Apparently, he had been nurturing the vision of creating a robot toy platform since 2012. That’s amazing.
With Toio, you can enjoy a variety of games simply by swapping out the cartridges, and
the “toio Collection” includes five different games: “Craft Fighter,” a game where you control robots made from everyday items like paper cups and paper clips to battle each other; “Rhythm & Go,” where you program movements to music; and “Free Move,” which lets you create your own games using the toio cube’s movements.
“GoGo Robot Programming: The Secret of Logibo” is a programming educational picture book that lets you experience the basics of programming while having fun moving the cubes. Arrange the command cards and run a Toio cube over them to execute the program. There are even features where the cubes interact with and cooperate with each other! Apparently, it was created by the Everyone’s Golf team. You can experience the thrill of seeing the robot move exactly as you programmed it.
The more you play with toio, the more new ideas for games you’ll likely discover.
I’m going to play with it some more during Golden Week, too!
