Learning of Tomorrow Blockchain × Education Working Group

Learning of Tomorrow is currently preparing to launch several working groups, one of which is the Blockchain × Education WG. We’ll provide a separate update on this WG’s future activities at a later date, but to kick things off, we’re hosting a talk event! It’s taking place next week—we hope you’ll join us.

NEO is a company that has achieved business success worldwide using blockchain technology. We are hosting a talk event featuring members from NEO to explore how this technology can be applied to education. Through various real-world examples, we will learn about the potential offered by the “smart contract” platform and, with demonstrations included, explore the digitization of educational systems and the possibilities for the future.(Interpretation provided)

CEO David Walters devised a music streaming system that eliminates the need for middlemen and conducted an ICO in January 2018.

・Cryptocurrency Wallet

Andrei Terentiev, a Stanford University graduate, went independent after a career at a Japanese company. He provides a wallet that allows users to manage, send, and receive NEO, as well as custom tokens (NEP5 tokens) created via ICOs based on the NEO platform.Based in Shibuya, the wallet—created by two developers—has been downloaded worldwide.

・Decentralized Exchange

Launched the only exchange capable of handling NEO and NEP5 tokens. As a decentralized exchange, it offers faster transaction speeds than existing exchanges. COO Jack Yeu met many teams developing decentralized applications at the NEO Developer Contest held in November 2017 and began development.
An ICO was held in March 2018.

    After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, he served as a visiting researcher at the MIT Media Lab before founding the NPO CANVAS and the Learning of Tomorrow Association, a General Incorporated Association, and assuming the role of representative. He serves as an outside director for Matsuya Co., Ltd., Fuji Media Holdings, Inc., and Digital Garage, Inc.
    He has served on various government committees, including the Information and Communications Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, as well as the NHK Central Broadcasting Program Council. He also serves as a director of the Digital Signage Consortium, among other roles. He holds a Ph.D. in Policy and Media.
    His publications include *Turning On Children’s Creativity!*, *What Are Smart Kids Doing on Their Smartphones?*, *The Forefront of Online Education in Japan: Considering Learning in the Post-COVID Era*,“What Is Programming Education? 45 Questions Parents Want to Know,” and “Declaration on Digital Education.” He has also provided supervision for numerous works, including “Ah, I See! Programming Education for Parents and Children Through Manga.”
