- Press Conference in Gifu City
This fiscal year, we will be building local communities in 13 regions to promote programming education.
Today, we held a press conference in Gifu City, one of those regions. Many media outlets, including NHK, were in attendance.
In Gifu City, we are collaborating with the Gifu City Board of Education, Gifu University, elementary schools in Gifu City, the Gifu City Science Museum, local lifelong learning facilities, local NPOs, and community volunteers. Through multifaceted initiatives—including the development and validation of lesson plans, training within teacher preparation programs, the development of instructional leaders, the identification and training of local support personnel, and the creation of programming learning opportunities both inside and outside of schools—we will promote autonomous and sustainable programming education through collaboration between schools and the community.
*This initiative is part of “Programming for ALL,” a project to promote programming education jointly led by CANVAS and Microsoft Japan Co., Ltd.

*My relationship with Gifu City began when I served as a member of the Gifu City Education Innovation Council last year. When I accepted the position, I mentioned that I would prefer to participate via Skype, and Gifu City agreed to this—marking the first time they had ever allowed Skype participation (*^^*)
