The other day, on Saturday, January 13, we held “Programming Day in Nasu Town”!
For this seventh installment, we held a Biscuit lecture by Mr. Harada aimed at adults. Additionally, since the host elementary school was holding Saturday classes, we simultaneously ran a hands-on exhibition where children could try out various programming tools to ensure they had fun as well. The children were completely engrossed in educational materials they were seeing for the first time, such as Biscuit, embot, and Osmo Coding Jam.

The Biscuit lecture involved each participant using a tablet to explore the inner workings of computers, the basics of programming, and the message Mr. Harada has embedded in Biscuit—all while thinking through the concepts together through hands-on experience. Participants listened intently, often consulting with the person next to them.

More than 30 people attended this lecture, including members of the Board of Education, school teachers, and parents. It seems that “Programming Day in Nasu Town,” which began in 2016, is attracting increasing interest and attention from both within and outside the region with each passing event.
The next event—the 8th installment—is scheduled for next month on Saturday, February 3, at the Nasu Town Cultural Center!
