- “Programming for All” Results Sharing Session
With everything happening so fast, time has flown by in the blink of an eye, and the fiscal year has already changed ^^;
The other day, to
coincide with the visit to Japan by the team from Microsoft headquarters—which supports programming education around the world—we held a results-sharing session for “Programming for All,” a program promoted by Microsoft and CANVAS.
Last fiscal year, we focused our efforts on children living in remote areas—who are said to have few opportunities to learn programming at present—as well as children with disabilities and girls in elementary, junior high, and high school.
This fiscal year, we plan to focus our efforts on the “Kids Programming Supporters” initiative.
In the U.S., there’s a program called TEALS that sends corporate engineers to schools to assist with programming classes. I’ve heard that volunteers from 400 companies are currently participating.
Ever since I first learned about TEALS, I’ve wanted to bring something like it to Japan, and the “Kids Programming Supporters” initiative is making that vision a reality.
After the results-sharing session, I had the opportunity to speak with Ms. Yvonne, who shared insights on the current state of programming education around the world.
I expect an article on this to be published soon!
