Programming Day: Training Workshop for Adults in Nasu Town

Reprinted from the PEG page, a programming education project promoted by CANVAS.

*********************************************

The "Programming Day" workshop for adults in Nasu Town offered two courses: the "Measurement and Control Course," which uses
Arduino-compatible boards,
and the "Creative Expression Course," which focuses on creating games using Scratch.

With Arduino-compatible boards, we tried making an LED blink on a breadboard, and
in the Creative Course, we created “Run Away from the Cat!” (http://www.canvas.ws/p-ws/ ).

Although there were many first-time participants,
everyone had a great time—it was as if they had become children again!
Elementary school teachers asked,

“How should we teach students the basics, such as how to use tools like Scratch?”

There’s also the question of who should be able to teach.
I hope that this initiative will serve as a catalyst to
help create—even if only a little—opportunities for people active in the community and school teachers to connect and
engage in discussion.
