[Kids-Only Museum in Nishi-Azabu]
On Sunday, October 4, we held the “Kids-Only Museum in Nishi-Azabu.” At the
“Kids-Only Museum,” we provide plenty of materials and tools at every event so that children can freely create whatever they like.
This time, we all worked together to find the most transparent materials—the ones where you can see through them from the back—from a wide variety of options. We picked up
materials, held them up to the light, and peered through them, and in the end, we collected a lot of “transparent” materials. I was surprised to discover just how many different variations we could create when I wanted to use something that was even just
slightly see-through.
After getting familiar with the materials, it was time to create.
Once again, many wonderful pieces were created.
By combining various materials, I created a "Town of Dreams." It’s a magical streetscape lined with buildings of all shapes and colors.
Although the two pieces look similar, they differ in color and the materials used. I compared the decorations very carefully to achieve a beautiful color scheme.
I talked it over with the craft instructor and figured out where to drill the holes. We secured the tire firmly, and the car was ready to roll.
The character, which stands on three legs, also has three faces. By carefully selecting materials to attach them with—such as
hot glue and wood glue—we achieved a perfect balance. The eyelashes and the slightly turned-away expression are absolutely adorable.
When I first started making the blue Statue of Liberty, I just made the torch, but then my ideas kept expanding: “Oh, I should make the crown!” “And clothes, too!” “She was holding a book, too!”
Finally, I got into character and struck a pose!
The yellow Mars rover has its legs carefully attached so that the main body floats securely. The legs that grip the
ground are also shaped to make it easier to maintain balance, and I was really impressed by how well thought out it is.
The "Kids-Only Museum" is held monthly at two locations: Daikanyama and Nishi-Azabu.
The next event will be held on Saturday, October 17, at Daikanyama, and on Sunday, November 1, at Nishi-Azabu.
