<I participated in a club activity using Raspberry Pi at Sumida City Higashi-Gotome Elementary School!>

Continuing from last fiscal year, Sumida Ward has been utilizing old PC monitors, mice, keyboards, and other equipment—sourced from closed schools and equipment replacements—in classes and club activities with the help of Raspberry Pi devices. Today, I participated in a club activity at Higashi-Go-tsuma Elementary School, which is part of this initiative.

At Togo-tsuma Elementary School, as part of the monthly computer club activities, we will be conducting a series of three sessions from September through November using Raspberry Pi.
For this first session, students will form pairs of two or three, gather the necessary equipment—such as monitors and mice—set out in front of them, connect it to the Raspberry Pi, and assemble their own computers.

Instead of going through the assembly instructions, the students worked with a partner to connect the parts, and the teacher checked their work when they turned on the power at the end. Although most of them were using a
Raspberry Pi for the first time, everyone got theirs up and running in no time.
We even included a simple programming experience using Scratch. Although the session was packed with content—covering everything from building their own computers to programming—all within a short 40-minute timeframe, the students remained deeply engaged throughout and already seemed eager for the next club meeting.

Following on from last year, local initiatives utilizing the Raspberry Pi are still going strong.
Keep an eye on Sumida Ward’s activities!
