[Report on the August 22 (Sat) Atelier BAUHAUS Session] The
theme was "Hide-and-Seek," and the children drew pictures filled with lots of secrets
.

Last time, the children used their whole bodies to create
a painting about the size of their own bodies using liquid clay and paint. This time, they
used a technique called collage, thinking carefully about what to hide and how to do it. Through both sessions, our goal was for the children to learn different methods and techniques for creating art and to enjoy the process of painting at their own pace.
We set aside about 90 minutes for this session, and I really felt that their concentration had improved significantly.

Finally, we
took turns asking each other questions, followed by a review and presentation. • A child
who colored a clear file folder with crayons and came up with a question asking, “What color is a real clear file folder?” • A child
who hid a paper clip inside a balloon. • A child
who created a mechanism where the question and answer were stuck underneath the artwork, allowing viewers to check their answers by lifting the paper. •A child
who hid kanji characters so they would blend into the ocean-colored background. There were so many ingenious ideas—enough to make you marvel!
