[Report on the August 8 (Sat) Atelier BAUHAUS Session
] For this session, we created one large painting by layering a mixture of
poster paint and liquid clay on top of a large piece of cardboard.
Both the preschoolers and the elementary school students spoke up a lot—sharing their impressions of the texture, saying things like, “Let’s try it this way!” or “Look what happened!” It was also striking to see
everyone’s expressions softening more and more.Moving their
fingers, hands, and feet—their whole bodies—the girls in the elementary school class slid, wriggled, and sometimes even rolled around
as if they were dancing, creating art with a boldness they’d never shown before.
Rather than deciding
everything here, I’d like to simply provide the starting point, so that the children can gradually discover what they want to do on their own,
and that time becomes their own. I hope to continue creating moments like that in the future.
