On Tuesday, August 26, we held the second session of our “Future Realization IT Class”!
What is the Future Realization IT Class? It’s a series of programming workshops using “Pyonkey,” a programming language for iPads based on Scratch.

For this project, we created an "interactive story.
" We chose a main character, a starting point, an endpoint, and scripts for obstacles, and then used programming to create an interactive story.

After everyone worked together to create the basic flow—"control the main character with your finger and navigate toward the goal while avoiding obstacles"—it was time for free creation.
Some children got creative with their characters and backgrounds, while others added dialogue, used variables to create timers, or programmed a "jump" animation for their characters. The resulting works reflected each child’s unique and richly developed worldview!

Although the program was fundamentally simple, through a few clever ideas and the accumulation of small efforts, the children found themselves brimming with new things they “could do” and “wanted to do.” It was a workshop where I was able to enjoy interacting with these children and rediscover the potential of programming education.

The "Realizing the Future" IT Classroom is a project we’re carrying out in collaboration with the team at Itochu Techno-Solutions.
We’re planning to hold a workshop this fall! Stay tuned for the next one!
