[Kids Creative Lab in Tahara-cho: Atelier BAUHAUS]
June 27 (Sat) Theme: Seeds—
Here is the activity report. We made
egg carton planters and planted seeds that will grow from summer through fall.
The activity was designed to encourage continued participation outside of Atelier hours and to provide hands-on experiences.
Cosmos, sunflower, baby carrots, radishes, shiso, okra, clover, morning glories, and Chinese lanterns—9 types of seeds(For preschoolers, plus bitter melon) I introduced the activity by explaining the characteristics of each seed, having the children
smell them, examine them with a magnifying glass, and carefully observe them to try to guess which one it was. They observed them with great enthusiasm.
It was a day when I came across so many things I didn’t know—like the fact that daikon radish seeds are red. I hope that by realizing there are things I
don’t know, my curiosity about all sorts of things will continue to grow.
