≪Study Session Overview≫
Mr. Nakano of Recruit Marketing Partners gave a presentation titled
“Introducing Recruit’s ‘Study Supplement’: Aiming for Further Evolution in Education.”
The presentation introduced “Study Supplement,” an online education service for elementary and junior high school students launched this past March.
With income and regional disparities becoming increasingly pronounced in recent years, Recruit launched “Exam Supplement” in 2011 for high school seniors.
The service gained popularity by offering a wealth of content—including high-quality lecture videos and past exam questions—for a monthly fee of 980 yen, and has since grown to become the third-largest paid membership service among exam preparation schools nationwide.
Leveraging the expertise accumulated through “Juken Supplement,” we examined what kind of service we could provide to elementary and middle school students—who have different needs than high school students and face issues such as income and regional disparities—and launched “Study Supplement” this spring.
The service is built around the keywords “Understand, Get Hooked, Improve” and features five key characteristics: (1) lessons taught by a team of charismatic instructors;
(2) “Future Classes” designed to teach 21st-century skills; (3) mechanisms to boost motivation for learning through games;
(4) active learning utilizing accumulated log data; and (5) educational support content for parents,
, all while offering the service for a monthly fee of 980 yen.
For elementary and middle school students in particular, the parent-child relationship is extremely important, and praise from parents serves as a major source of motivation for children; therefore, Study Supplement continues to refine its service by focusing on how specifically parents can offer praise.
Our goal is to help children develop a love for learning and to help elementary and middle school students develop habits that allow them to continue studying without strain. We remain committed to this mission and plan to continue enhancing our service accordingly.
