[A Museum Just for Kids in Daikanyama]

On Saturday, April 25, we held the “Kids-Only Museum” event in Daikanyama!
The Kids-Only Museum is stocked with plenty of materials and supplies, as well as tools for creating.
Here, children decide for themselves what to make and what to use.

Some children start by saying, “This is what I want to make!” while for others, their creations take shape as they touch, assemble, and explore the
materials.
It’s okay if something turns out a certain way—or if it doesn’t. This is a place where we value not just
what children make, but what they do in the process.

Since they haven’t decided what to make yet, some of
the children are struggling. They’ll look around, go back to check the materials, try sticking the pieces together, then their hands start moving as if they’ve had a sudden inspiration—only to start struggling again… I found myself getting a little lost in watching their pensive expressions.

In the elementary school class, a craze had started because of something one child had made. Without anyone asking for
instructions, an atmosphere naturally developed where the children shared ideas with one another.

This is the first Museum event in Daikanyama. We’ll be holding it once a
month
going forward, so it’ll be a place you can visit whenever you feel like creating.
We look forward to seeing you there!
