[Kids Creative Lab at the University of Tokyo, Hongo Campus]
On Sunday, April 19, we held a workshop at the Research Institute on the University of Tokyo’s Hongo Campus!
This month’s theme was “The Hand of the Counterfeit,” just like in Meiji and Daikanyama.
Once you've had a good look at the hands, it's time to start making your fake hands!
Some people work in silence, some chat as they go, some take their time,
some struggle as they work, and some come up with their own unique methods… There are all kinds of ways to make fake hands
.
Once the hands were done, they added arms—and the fake body was complete!
Some kids even decorated the hands or made the arms longer.
The preschoolers all shook hands with each other and clapped their hands.
They also cheered enthusiastically, shouting, “Let’s go!”
The elementary school students thought about what they could do with their “fake” hands. They tried
fishing and came up with creative ways to hold things… Finally
, everyone gathered for a showcase!
“What are they doing here?
” “This is so cool!
” The time spent looking at the other students’ creations was also very meaningful.
I’m already really looking forward to seeing what kind of experiences the children will create
over the next year!
