[Kids Creative Lab in Daikanyama (April–June)]
On Sunday, April 26, we held the Kids Creative Lab at SodaCCo in Daikanyama.
We made fake hands, and then tried playing with them, grabbing things, and squeezing them… and what happened!?
For the “hand” craft activity, everyone picked out their favorite colors from a pool of colorful lily-of-the-valley ribbon, resulting in ten unique “fake” hands, each as individual as the person who made it.
Now, what are we going to do with these hands?
When the children in the preschool class are asked such questions, their ideas for what they want to do just pour out, giving rise to all sorts of games involving their hands—
from shaking hands and playing rock-paper-scissors to patting each other and even hide-and-seek!?
Even children meeting for the first time seemed to be using their hands to make friends.
In the elementary school class, the students tried using their “pretend hands” to handle various items provided for them. They held
pencils, carried bags, made signs, and more—everyone’s “pretend hands” performing different actions were lined up in the room for a little exhibition.
Surrounded by large glass windows, I was able to watch the energetic kids playing freely in the pleasant atmosphere of the SodaCCo venue.
To all the Daikanyama Kids, I look forward to working with you over the next three months!
