[COSUGI CONVIVIAL PROJECT]
March 29 marked the first session of the “COBO Children’s Town Workshop Series”!
We held the “Let’s Build a Big Tree Together” program.
Today, we’re all going to grow a big tree together!
First, let’s take a close look at real leaves!
There are all kinds of shapes, patterns, and colors. Even though they’re
all leaves, no two are exactly alike.
From there, the children in the preschool class came up with their own unique, quirky leaves and attached them to the tree.
There were colorful leaves with creative colors and patterns, swirl-shaped leaves with unique designs,
and even a leaf that looked just like a squid!
“This leaf isn’t a squid—it’s a leaf that looks like a squid!” they told us enthusiastically, eager to share their creative vision.
In the elementary school class, the students thought about the creatures that live in trees, in addition to the odd-looking leaves. Birds live at the tips of the
branches.
Snakes live in holes in the trunk.
Rhinoceros beetle larvae live in the roots.
Some children even created loooong creatures that stretched from the tips of the branches all the way down to the roots. “My body is this long because I want to go from the branches down into the soil,” they said—and inspired by the
big tree, little stories began to take shape.
Finally, a huge, huge tree—grown through everyone’s combined efforts—has taken shape at COSUGI-COBOU!
Through the COSUGI CONVIVIAL PROJECT, we’ll be hosting a variety of workshops to nurture children in our community, just as we nurtured this giant tree!
