<March 14 (Sat) Raspberry Pi Instructor Training Session @ ECC Computer College>
We received a notice about an instructor training session from Mr. Yoshida at ECC Computer College, a PEG partner!

Since last October, Mr. Yoshida has been hosting monthly programming study sessions for children—targeted at teachers and parents—on the second Saturday of every month through the “Programming Education Mokumoku Kai” community ( http://code-edu.doorkeeper.jp/ ).

The next session, on Saturday, March 14, will be a Raspberry Pi workshop organized by PEG!
Participants will learn how to boot up a Raspberry Pi and try their hand at building a switch using Scratch.
The instructors will be Mr. Yoshida, along with Mr. Sonoda and Mr. Sano (Himeji Dokkyo University) and Mr. Ueda (a programmer at the Kobe Open Data Lab and a CoderDojo mentor)—all of whom are affiliated with PEG.
There are only a few spots left, so if you’re in the area, please be sure to join us.

[Overview]
Using a Raspberry Pi Model B, we’ll explore physical computing with Scratch. Through the following steps, you’ll learn how to teach students (or peers) how to use it.

(1) Connecting the Raspberry Pi and peripherals → Assembly and startup
(2) Programming with Scratch
(3) Physical computing using a cardboard switch with Scratch4GPIO

Let’s discuss together which programming environments are most effective for children in both group classes and one-on-one instruction.
