<INFORMATION Media Workshop for Junior High and High School Girls> Here are some of the projects from
yesterday’s “Let’s Make a Tomodachi Robot!” workshop.
During the free creation time, the students first used “design sheets” to plan the robots they would build.
They designed the robots’ features and appearance, as well as the sensors and actuators they would use.
There was a robot modeled after a girl with a ponytail that shook her “hair” in response to sound. A
rabbit-shaped robot wiggled its ears in response to light and lit up its eyes in response to sound.
Some students used lots of blocks to build a large humanoid robot.
“It’s important to go through trial and error while thinking about how to respond when problems arise,”
“Tomodachi robots don’t exist yet. Today, let’s create something that doesn’t exist in the world yet!”
As instructor Kazuhiro Abe said, even though various problems and challenges arose, a truly diverse range of tomodachi robots came to life.
You can also see what the workshop was like in this reflection video created by the high school student team from CoderDojo Kashiwa RTD Group!
