The Workshop Collection has won the “2013 Good Design Award”!
It was also selected for the Good Design Best 100.
Thank you so much! This is more great news, following the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Award♪
"Workshop Collection" is an initiative that CANVAS has been organizing continuously since 2004 with the aim of promoting and developing creative workshops nationwide that stimulate children’s creativity and expressive abilities. At the 9th event, held in March 2013 at Keio University’s Hiyoshi Campus, a record-breaking 100 workshops spanning various genres gathered from across the country, attracting 100,000 visitors over the course of two days.
In this year’s Good Design Awards, the initiative was highly commended not only as “the world’s largest children’s creative event” in terms of content and scale, but also for the fact that various stakeholders from industry, academia, and government are participating to collaboratively build this platform, and for its social significance and widespread impact as a “mechanism for promoting children’s creative and expressive activities nationwide,” based on its ongoing contributions to the creation of new projects and the development of talent in the workshop sector.
We received the following comments from the judges:
“Workshops are a key concept of our time, not only in the field of education but across a wide range of fields.
This initiative has succeeded in raising public awareness of ‘workshops’ and, furthermore, in enhancing the quality of workshops in Japan. We highly commend this ‘Workshop Collection’ initiative as a new trend in children’s education in our country.”
Taking this award as an opportunity, CANVAS intends to redouble its efforts to create spaces for children—the builders of the future—and will continue to promote and raise awareness of children’s creative and expressive activities, including through the Workshop Collection.
