≪Steering Committee≫
At the 15th subcommittee meeting on September 17, Mr. Takagi of Sharp Corporation
delivered a lecture titled “Sharp’s Initiatives in Educational ICT,” in which he presented case studies on the following three initiatives:
1. Sharp has been involved in education for over 20 years.
2. The company provides not only hardware but also software and solutions.
3. The company contributes to the adoption of ICT in education through support for mobile classrooms.
1. In its educational activities, Sharp has established environments in standard classrooms where digital textbooks and interactive whiteboards can be used,
promoting a three-pronged approach to learning that combines group instruction, individual learning, and collaborative learning.
The “STUDY SERIES” educational solution (point 2) provides a tablet-based learning system,
a collaborative learning support system, and an individualized learning support system.
The tablet-based learning system utilizes integration between interactive whiteboards and tablet devices to
facilitate interactive lessons.
The collaborative learning support system fosters critical thinking, judgment, and communication skills through collaborative learning.
The individualized learning support system reinforces foundational knowledge through personalized learning, and teachers
are able to provide precise, individualized instruction based on students’ learning histories.
School No. 3, under the guidance of Professor Higashihara of Shinshu University, has been participating in the Mobile Learning Pad Classroom program since last year. Within this program, the school has received feedback that it is highly effective to conduct classes by using a balanced combination of traditional blackboards, interactive whiteboards, and tablets, and that students are engaging in dialogue using the system to share diverse perspectives.
Mr. Takagi concluded by saying, “Let’s not rely on Sharp alone, but work together with all of you to
advance the integration of ICT into children’s education.”
We at DiTT also aim to further boost momentum for the integration of ICT into education.
