Powdered Medicine

May 6th is “Powdered Medicine Day” because I told him, “You did great.”

It was the first time in his life he was able to take powdered medicine.

He didn’t gag or spit it out,
nor did he blow it out with a “pfft.”

I didn’t numb my tongue with ice,
or change its shape by wrapping it in a sugar coating—
I didn’t resort to any of those underhanded tricks.

I faced the powder head-on
and washed it down in one gulp with ginger ale.

Cheers to Wilkinson.
