Heading to the "Digital Content of the Year ’25" / 31st AMD Awards Ceremony.

At the awards ceremony for the Netflix film *Shinkansen: The Great Explosion*, which won the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Award, Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi presented the Monolith and the Flag to director Shinji Higuchi and actor Takumi Saito.

We received comments from Kaho and Ryoma Takeuchi regarding the TBS Tuesday drama *"Well, Then, You Try Making It,"* which won the Chairman's Award.

We also received a congratulatory message from Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

The audience burst into laughter at Producer Sugitani’s tearful speech for *Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX* and Minister Hayashi’s heartfelt—and completely unexpected—spoiler.

What made the biggest impression on me were Director Higuchi’s words.

"Even though it's a Netflix movie, there's a deep, dark river that separates it from existing film awards. AMD is what helps us cross that river and bridge the gap."

It truly symbolized the nature of today's content, transcending the boundaries of media and formats.

It’s also wonderful that Yoichi Ochiai was chosen for the Lifetime Achievement Award as someone who continues to make an impact even now♪

Looking at the list of award-winning works, they range from movies, TV dramas, anime and IP, apps, games, game consoles, and toys to AI services, the metaverse, and robots.

The closing remarks by Jury Chair Tsuyoshi Natsuno—that “the strength of Japanese content lies in its overwhelming diversity”—have really stuck with me.

What is content? It was a truly enriching experience that made me realize how the very definition of content continues to expand.

There was also a gorgeous bouquet of flowers from Fuji TV President Shimizu at the venue entrance.

At the party, I was joined by Director Shinji Higuchi, Mr. Natsuno, who has always been so kind to me, my mentor Professor Yoichiro Kawaguchi, and Mr. Hagino, the founder of Voyager.

    After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, he served as a visiting researcher at the MIT Media Lab before founding the NPO CANVAS and the Learning of Tomorrow Association, a General Incorporated Association, and assuming the role of representative. He serves as an outside director for Matsuya Co., Ltd., Fuji Media Holdings, Inc., and Digital Garage, Inc.
    He has served on various government committees, including the Information and Communications Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, as well as the NHK Central Broadcasting Program Council. He also serves as a director of the Digital Signage Consortium, among other roles. He holds a Ph.D. in Policy and Media.
    His publications include *Turning On Children’s Creativity!*, *What Are Smart Kids Doing on Their Smartphones?*, *The Forefront of Online Education in Japan: Considering Learning in the Post-COVID Era*,“What Is Programming Education? 45 Questions Parents Want to Know,” and “Declaration on Digital Education.” He has also provided supervision for numerous works, including “Ah, I See! Programming Education for Parents and Children Through Manga.”
