Other [Guest Column] Comments Posted on the Official Website for the Theatrical Anime “Twilight” I posted a comment on the official website for the theatrical anime *Twilight*.
Beautiful and gentle.
This is a work that conveys these seemingly clichéd words with such purity and directness that they feel perfectly fitting.
A sunset sky stretching across the countryside of Fukushima. The resounding strains of a string quartet.
And set against this backdrop, a small, tender love story unfolds.
The girl’s dignified demeanor, the boy’s sincere gaze, their slightly awkward interactions, and the growing intensity of their budding feelings—precisely because these are depicted as part of an unhurried, everyday narrative, they feel all the more heart-fluttering, bittersweet, and endearing. Are we
witnessing a real landscape or a mental one?The story brings out the beauty of the scenes.
That’s where I feel the charm of the anime and the director’s vision.
