A programming-based lesson at Owada Elementary School.
Sixth-graders will program Sphero robots to design moving light displays!

In the fourth period, each group discussed what kind of movements to have Sphero perform.
They shared their ideas with friends—either verbally or by moving drawings on the board—and worked out the details of their one-minute performance.
“Oh, that’s a great idea!” They jotted down good ideas on their tablets and turned them into design plans.
These design plans could be shared from one student to the entire group.

"Instead of just repeating the same movements, how about adding some moves like this?" "What about the lighting effects?" We had a lively exchange of ideas, incorporating others' suggestions while ensuring that the movements I wanted to create were included.

Sphero is fully charged and ready to go! Once I’ve worked out my ideas, I’ll test out the movements.
It’s not going as well as I’d hoped… Let’s try changing the speed!
The great thing about programming is that even if you make a mistake, you can just start over and try again.

This afternoon, we’ll practice even more to polish our performance.
I wonder what kind of light show everyone will put on with Sphero.
