[Kids-Only Museum in Daikanyama]
On Saturday, May 16, we held the Kids-Only Museum in Daikanyama!
At the Children’s Museum, there are plenty of materials, supplies, and tools for making things.
At the museum, children get to decide for themselves what to make and what to use.
We’ll start by exploring the museum.
What kinds of materials are there? Are there any you have at home? Tools you’ve used before, and tools that adults use. Try to imagine
what you can do with them.
Next, we’ll have the children try to find their favorites from among the many materials laid out. They’ll take a good look at
what’s there, touch the items, and feel their texture and hardness as they explore the materials.
We fold, bend, and glue the materials, breaking them down and rebuilding them into new shapes. When the
work is difficult, we ask the children to consult with the adults, but we let the children decide whether they want help.
Seeing the smile on their faces when a piece is finished, and watching them come alive as they explain what they’ve created—it always makes me happy. It’s not just the
finished piece that matters; the process of creating it is also very important.
Our second museum event at SodaCCo in Daikanyama.
It’s a place where people can come whenever they feel like creating.
