[After-School Creative Project]
On Monday, May 25, we held a “Dome Speaker Making” workshop at the Kakezuka Elementary School After-School Club!
The children told us they had seen and used “speakers” before.
What exactly is a speaker?
How is it made?
How does it produce sound?
We explored these questions together with the children as we built our own speakers.
The children concentrated intently on the detailed, manual work using magnets, enameled coils, and lead wires.
The look of surprise and joy on the children’s faces the moment they heard sound coming from the finished speakers was truly memorable. They made many discoveries, such as touching the dome and exclaiming, “It’s vibrating!” and adding more magnets to find that “The vibrations got stronger, and the sound got louder!”
*About
the After-School Creative Project: To enrich the after-school experiences of as many children as possible, we conduct workshops at after-school facilities designed to nurture children’s creativity and imagination.
