Yesterday, following my coverage of PEG partners in Miyagi Prefecture—specifically Coder Dojo Izumi—I visited a class taught by Mr. Asamizu at the Junior High School Affiliated with Miyagi University of Education!
That day’s class was with third-year students. In yesterday’s lesson, each student used a Raspberry Pi to control an LED’s lighting and flashing using Scratch, with the goal of creating a game using the “L-Chika” effect!
“The LED flashes when you hit an enemy,” “It flashes when you get an item,” and so on—each student added their own creative twists using LEDs to make their games even more fun.
The Affiliated Junior High School has launched a course called “Technology and Information Collaborative Creation,” which aims to create new value using digital technology, and classes using Scratch and Raspberry Pi are actively taking place!
